Accidentally deleting photos can be stressful, but both Android and iPhone devices include built-in tools that
make recovery quick and easy. In most cases, your images are not permanently removed right away—they’re temporarily
stored in a “Recently Deleted” or “Trash” folder for around 30 days before being erased forever.
1. Recover Deleted Photos on Android
Google Photos Method
If your device uses Google Photos:
- Open Google Photos
- Tap Library > Trash
- Select the photos you want to recover
- Tap Restore
The images will be restored to their original albums automatically, as long as they were deleted within the last 30 days.
Samsung Gallery Method
Many Samsung phones have their own recycle bin inside the Gallery app:
- Open the Gallery app
- Tap Menu > Recycle bin
- Select the photos
- Tap Restore
This works only if the photos were deleted recently and the recycle bin feature is enabled.
2. Recover Deleted Photos on iPhone
iPhones store removed images for a limited time before deleting them permanently:
- Open the Photos app
- Go to Albums > Recently Deleted
- Tap Select and choose the photos you want back
- Tap Recover
The photos are returned to your main library and original albums, as long as they are still within the recovery period.
3. If Your Photos Are Not in Trash or Recently Deleted
If you can’t find your images in the Trash or Recently Deleted folders, you still have a few options:
- Check iCloud Photos or Google Photos backups
- Look for older phone backups on your computer (Finder/iTunes)
- Use a reputable photo recovery tool if needed
The sooner you act, the better your chances. Older deleted files are more likely to be overwritten and harder to restore.
